Judges

Lisa Charteris – Breed & Fleece

Lisa lives and works on her families Alpaca stud Waters Edge Alpacas located in Karaka, South Auckland along with her fiancé Dean and her two children Paris & Jordon.

She maintains the day to day management of their herd of 150 Alpaca along with her own business of running Auckland’s largest Wedding Expo.

Their focus is on breeding elite grey Huacaya for the local and International market.

As well as being a qualified NZ Alpaca Judge, she has also entered the Australian Alpaca judging apprentice programme where she hopes to become a qualified Australian judge in the next year.

Her passion to judge has stemmed from not only her love of all things Alpaca but also in her desire to help educate other breeders to grow this industry even further.

General Information

Lisa Charteris has accepted our invitation to judge at Egmont A&P Show.  We are expecting another strong line-up of exhibitors from Manawatu, King Country, Waikato and of course Taranaki.  This year the showgrounds will be open to the public on Friday and Saturday.  Fleece judging will be held on Friday and breed judging on Saturday.

Pens will be set up in the TSB Arena (same as 2018).  Alpacas can be penned anytime on Friday afternoon, but preferably after 5pm to avoid traffic congestion.

Penning deadline is expected to be 9.00 am on Saturday, allowing same-day travel from Manawatu and King Country.

Because of Mycoplasma bovis, there will be no cattle sharing facilities with alpacas. With more space available there will be both an outdoor alpaca show ring and an indoor show ring, to allow for bad weather.

The Hawera alpaca show is developing a reputation for being friendly and convivial. Exhibitors vary in experience from beginners through to seasoned veterans, all wanting to have a relaxed, stress-free and enjoyable day spent in the company of fellow breeders and their agreeable alpacas.

A warm welcome awaits you at Hawera!!
