2018 AANZ Health Symposium


AANZ Southern Region Committee
invites you to register to attend a
2-day Alpaca Health Symposium
Presented by Jane Vaughan
26th and 27th May 2018
 at Russley Golf Club,
428 Memorial Avenue Christchurch
This comprehensive workshop (see proposed program) will cover:

  • Alpaca husbandry
  • Practical nutrition and feed evaluation
  • Cria care including neonatal care, milk supplementation, nutrition and weaning
  • Gastro-intestinal parasite control
  • Male and female reproduction including pregnancy diagnosis, parturition and peri-parturient problems
  • Skin conditions; jaw abscesses; lameness; gastric ulcers
  • and will also include an Open Forum

About Jane Vaughan
Jane graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours) from the University of Melbourne in 1988, gained membership to the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in the Ruminant Nutrition Chapter in 1998 and completed a Doctor of Philosophy in the control of alpaca ovarian function in 2002.
Jane is well known to many Australian and New Zealand alpaca breeders as an expert in alpaca health and reproduction. She has presented at past AANZ Conferences and never fails to deliver clearly and concisely and, it must be said - is always entertaining!!
Jane lectures regularly to farmers, veterinarians and veterinary students on alpaca reproduction, nutrition and husbandry in both Australia and internationally, and has co-authored a number of papers in refereed journals. In collaboration with various universities, Jane has on-going research interests in reproduction, parasitology and genetics of alpacas.

  • Registrations fees which include all presentations, morning tea and lunch on both days and afternoon tea on Day 1 are:  

              AANZ single members $135.00 per person
              AANZ couple members $220.00 per couple
              Non AANZ members (eg Vets) $200 per person

  • To register please complete the registration form and send it to AANZ Southern Region c/o AANZ P O Box 6348 Upper Riccarton Christchurch 8442 or email to southernregion@alpaca.org.nz by 31 March 2018.   Registrations made after that date will attract late registration fee of $20 per person.
  • At the foot of the Registration form there is an opportunity for those registering to indicate if they would like to meet with others for dinner on the Saturday night.  If there is sufficient interest a Notice regarding dinner will be sent out in April after registrations have closed

For those travelling

  • The Russley Golf Club at 428 Memorial Avenue is only 3.2 kms from Christchurch Airport and has a number of accommodation options within 1km walk. A Google search will show there is a Hotel across the road, Motels and Motor Inns adjacent to the Airport and in Roydevale Avenue (600m from the Golf Club), and private bnb options close by.
