Judges Profile
Soo and I have been involved with alpacas since 2003.Our emphasis has always been on breeding good quality black and grey huacayas, focusing on fineness, density, and frame. What started out as a hobby is now turning into a business. Alpacas are a passion for us, and with this passion I have moved into judging as I really enjoy dealing with alpacas and handling those beautiful fleeces.
I also started shearing in 2003. Through shearing I came across many different quality alpacas and fleeces. It helped me realise the type and quality of animal we need to breed for. It is my desire now to apply what I have learnt through these experiences to the animals I judge in the show ring, and be a part of developing the alpaca industry in New Zealand.
The main objectives of the Oxford A&P Association is to bring Town and Country together one day a year to enjoy contry hospitality and to promote agricultural and pastoral excellence in all areas. This season will mark the shows 107th year. This will be the third year alpacas have been exibited at the show. We, as alpaca breeders, have been warmly welcomed into the Oxford Show. The atmosphere is both fun & relaxing. We start early which means we usually finish in time to be a part of the grand parade & then sit down & relax with our fellow exbitors over a galss of wine & something to eat. The Oxford A&P Show is a very social, exciting & relaxed day out and one of the few autumn shows of the show calender. We encourage everyone to come along and be a part of this enjoyable show.
