This is a full fleece Breed with Colour Championship Schedule
The Hawkes Bay show takes place each year on the Thursday (fleece) and Friday (breed) prior to Labour Day Holiday in late October. This year the dates are Thursday 21st October and Breed Friday 22nd October. We are thrilled to have Lloyd Johnson as our Judge. Lloyd has recently moved to Australia and we may be one of the last NZ shows to have Lloyds services. We are running a colour Championship schedule whereby each colour in both Huacaya and Suri compete against each other to select the Champion and reserve Champion in that colour. For the first time we are trialling the separation of White from Light Fawn to make a stand-alone Light Fawn Colour Championship. It may cause a wee bit of confusion for those of us who breed white and light fawn alpacas but with Mary-Ann Pruden as our Chief Steward carrying out colour checks we will be all right on the day! When entering your animals remember that if there is a light fawn blush on the top of the head and/or along the top-line, your animal is classed as light fawn. If in doubt please get a colour check done prior to the start of the show.
Mary-Ann and Mark Pruden along with Alan and Lynne Skilling are our stewards and their experience will help us all to create a smooth running show.
The after-show event is a casual 'wine and cheese' that will be held ringside so we hope you can stay for a short while after the showing has finished. The Wine and Cheese is laid on jointly by Tironui alpacas and Gilt Edge alpacas.
We are hoping for a fine warm sunny Hawkes Bay day but whatever the weather you are assured of a warm welcome to the show. If you wish to bring your alpacas and stable them at the grounds the day before the breed show please contact me so I can explain the arrangements.
