SHOWING ALPACAS IN NEW ZEALAND

Showing alpacas is a fun experience for both exhibitors and spectators. If you are interested in finding out about alpacas then attending one of the many shows put on by the Royal Agricultural Society in New Zealand is a good starting point. If you are thinking about having alpaca on your lifestyle block then go along to a local show and talk to the alpaca breeders there. They will be able to give you plenty of information to think about. Dates and locations of shows with an alpaca section are listed in the Show Calendar.

Members new to the Alpaca Association and wanting to enter their alpacas into a show will find plenty of helpful advice in the Showing Handbook as well as being able to talk to the Convenor of the show who will have their contact details given in the Show Calendar.

As long as you are a current member of the AANZ you may submit entries for breed, fleece or special classes. Animals taken to a show must have a valid Tb certificate, and animals in the breed classes must be registered on the IAR database.
